Zero Tolerance Policy: Manipur International University strictly prohibits ragging in any form and is committed to providing a safe, secure, and conducive academic environment for all students.

πŸ“‹ Definition of Ragging

As per UGC guidelines, ragging constitutes one or more of any of the following acts:

  • Any conduct by any student or students whether by words spoken or written or by an act which has the effect of teasing, treating or handling with rudeness a fresher or any other student
  • Indulging in rowdy or undisciplined activities by any student or students which causes or is likely to cause annoyance, hardship, physical or psychological harm or to raise fear or apprehension thereof in any fresher or any other student
  • Asking any student to do any act which such student will not in the ordinary course do and which has the effect of causing or generating a sense of shame, or torment or embarrassment so as to adversely affect the physique or psyche of such fresher or any other student
  • Any act by a senior student that prevents, disrupts or disturbs the regular academic activity of any other student or a fresher
  • Exploiting the services of a fresher or any other student for completing the academic tasks assigned to an individual or a group of students
  • Any act of financial extortion or forceful expenditure burden put on a fresher or any other student by students
  • Any act of physical abuse including all variants of it: sexual abuse, homosexual assaults, stripping, forcing obscene and lewd acts, gestures, causing bodily harm or any other danger to health or person

The Anti-Ragging Policy is formulated in accordance with:

  • UGC Regulations on Curbing the Menace of Ragging in Higher Educational Institutions, 2009
  • Supreme Court of India guidelines
  • All applicable Central and State laws

🚫 Prohibited Activities

The following activities are strictly prohibited on campus and in any place related to the institution:

  1. Physical or mental torture of students
  2. Verbal abuse, threats, or intimidation
  3. Forced consumption of alcohol, drugs, or any substance
  4. Sexual harassment or abuse
  5. Financial extortion
  6. Forced labor or services
  7. Deprivation of basic necessities
  8. Any form of discrimination based on region, religion, caste, ethnicity, gender, or economic status

⚑ Immediate Actions & Penalties

Punishments for Ragging Offenses:

  • Suspension: Temporary or permanent suspension from the institution
  • Debarment: Debarment from appearing in any test/examination
  • Academic Penalty: Withholding results, cancellation of admission
  • Financial Penalty: Fine as deemed appropriate
  • Community Service: As determined by the Anti-Ragging Committee
  • Legal Action: Criminal prosecution under relevant sections of IPC
