Program Overview

B.Sc. in Medical Imaging and Radiology Technology is a 4 years undergraduate degree designed to train students in advanced medical imaging techniques used for diagnosing and treating diseases. This program focuses on developing both theoretical knowledge and practical skills required to operate imaging equipment such as X-rays machines, CT scanners, MRI scanners, ultrasound devices and other radiological technologies. Students are also trained to assist radiologists in producing accurate diagnostic images that help in effective medical decision making.  MIU has an up to date curriculum which will give broad knowledge to students about human anatomy, physiology, pathology, radiographic techniques, medical imagining technology, radiation physics and more. Students will gain a strong foundation in both the science behind imagining and the technical operations of modern diagnostic equipment.

The program offered by MIU is delivered through a combination of classroom based learning, training and clinical internships in hospitals and diagnostic centers. This ensures that students will gain hands-on experience in real healthcare environments. The course also develops essential skills such as technical proficiency, analytical thinking, communication, patient handling. Admission to the program requires candidates to have completed 10+2 with physics, chemistry and biology. There is a wide range of career opportunities such as Radiology Technologist, X-ray, CT Scan Technologist, MRI technologist, Ultrasound Technician, and more.

Learning Objectives

  • Anatomy of the Human Body and Its Imaging: In this module, students would know how human body systems look under different imaging modalities.
  • Functioning of Imaging Equipment: The program trains the students to operate Xray, CT, MRI, and Ultrasound machines.
  • Protection from Radiation Hazards: This course teaches the students how to handle radiations safely.
  • Patient Care and Positioning: Patients' care and positioning in the imaging process is also taught to the students.
  • Clinical Experience: Practical experience through hospitals and diagnostics centers.

Eligibility Criteria

Students must have completed their class 12th from a recognised board.
Students must have studied physics, chemistry and biology.
Students must have secured a minimum of 50% marks.
